How will that work in situations like ".prc" files, where a file can be opened by either MobiPocket or FBReader? Eg, I prefer to read my MobiPocket books in MobiPocket Reader, but I'd still like to use FBReader for other file types. Will that still be possible?

Yes.

The installer won't replace any of the formats the iLiad can already read, but simply add more types and file extensions to it.

Thats ok if you can read some of the pocket sized devices. Some of us have been looking for a larger screen sized device for ages

I think you can have multiple contacts in a vcard. Try manually editing the file with notepad and copying the contents from a few vcf files.

It seems to work, I have installed GPE on my PC too and here is the Unison profile I use:

Code:
# Unison preferences file
root = /home/USER
root = /CARD_PATH/_local/home
path = .gpe
path = .gpe-calendar

# log file
log = true
logfile = /home/USER/.unison/GPE.log

# ignore permissions
perms = 0000

Thanks for the tip on Unison! Cross-platform, too!

Have you installed the shell access package? You need that before you can install anything.
