TXT to EPUB - Freeze on 1%

I got a bunch of TXT file that I convert to EPUB format so that I can view it on my iphone. Although most of them convert fine, for some reason, I got the following in a few of my TXT file:

Then it would just get stuck there. I've try to run it overnight, doing the same thing.

I mean, usually it takes maybe a minute at max to convert the file, so I've no clue what's happening...

Heuristic processing can be intensive. My recommendation would be to let it run for about and hour. If it's still stuck then stop the conversion do it again. But this time specify the formatting_type as plain. This will disable the heuristic processing.

I don't have heuristic processing enable and is actually running the conversion with formatting_type as plain. I've already tried running the conversion overnight (10 hours), same result.

According to that log you have the formatting set to auto and that enables heuristic processing even if you have it disabled in the heuristic preferences area. Look at the log again and if you see "********* Heuristic processing HTML *********" heuristics are running.

user_none: Got it to work. The problem I was having was that even though I change the formatting of TXT file input under preference to "plain", that doesn't show up correctly when I do bulk convert.

Once I convert each of them individually and change the option one by one, it was able to convert correctly.

If you've got a lot of books with this problem that points to a bug - if you open up a bug with a test case on the bug tracker we can dig into the cause. https://bugs.launchpad.net/calibre

Bulk Conversion can be set globally by disabling heuristics/auto under text input in preferences (instead of book by book), but the whole point of having heuristics as the default is that otherwise text conversions don't come out very well.

I am having the same problem with "TXT", "RTF" and "HTML" files. They either hang on 1% or say there is no ebook content. everything was ok with 0.8.4 but seemed to go pear shaped when I changed to 0.8.5. I have reinstalled 0.8.4 but still have the same problem. TXT and HTML both work individually.
I am running Windows7 64 bit.

@Segref: Uninstall, delete C:\Program Files\Calibre2
(or wherever you chose to install calibre). Then re-install. And
dont worry, uninstalling will not affect your books/settings.
