Touch Can side-loaded books be synced between STR & app?

I thought I'd seen somewhere (can't find it now though) that a Nook device will sync the furthest position in a book with a Nook app.

My question is, does that work with side-loaded books, or only with books bought from B&N?

As far as I know this only works for B&N books (and even then not very reliable).

It works for Kindle if you format it right, but not for Nook.

I've found that functionality on my Kindle quite useful, so it'll be a shame if I can't replicate it on the Nook.

Interestingly, last night the book I'm reading on the Nook opened at the start instead of where I'd left it. I then got a message telling me that I was on page xxx on another device, and did I want to go to that page? I tapped yes, and it moved to where I'd finished reading earlier.

The moon and stars have to be aligned just right for everything to work. Even my Kindle was a little quirky. Sometimes I had to exit out of the book rather than just turn the device off (put in sleep mode really), but it worked well most of the time. Wish I knew a way to get the Nook to sync sideloads.
