Yes, looking at the code, this should not be too difficult.
I am just wondering why is the content server doing this at all - should it not simply show just the latest document for every set of documents with the same name and metadata? I cannot really imagine any usual situation where fetching "identical" documents by their DB ID could be useful for a 'typical user' (which of course may quite likely mean simply my lack of imagination) |

one common use case is to have two records with the same metadata one of which holds the "master" copy and one which holds and experimental copy on which conversion parameters are being tested (for FMT->same FMT conversions)
Another very common one is when you add duplicates. In general since adding an id hurts nothing (except obscure use cases like yours) I much prefer to go for robustness. |

OK, I have solved the problem by jailbreaking (yeah, I changed my mind) and periodic automatic rsyncing of .mobi files from chosen calibre_lib subdirectories to the device via ssh. Everything seems to work correctly with this setup and no sending via gmail/amazon anymore.
Just wondering whether I have not reinvented the wheel by doing the rsyncing - does perhaps Calibre enable automatic sending via ssh already? |
