Opening a new window in calibre, and closing another window

Can I close the current window on calibre (with x number of titles) and open a new window without any books, in order to start fresh?

(Think of a word processor: One closes the window for the current writing project and opens - or creates - a new window for a different story.)

I wish to keep all my Kindle purchases separate from all my other ebooks, and without slowing down - or slogging through - all the other stuff.

In other words you want a library with just your Kindle purchases, correct? But you want to have all of the same columns as you have in the other library, correct?

If the answer is yes then what you want to do is create a new library. Click on the Books icon and select Switch/Create Library as you see in the first attached image. Then tell Calibre the location of your new library, you may need to use the Make New Folder button if you haven't created a new directory yet. Select Create An Empty Library At New Location and if you want to keep all of your columns and settings from the first library select Copy Structure From Current Library. This is shown in the second attached image.

Hope that helped.
