PDF to MOBI conversion - unable to detect any words
I have a PDF file that it approximately 30 MB large and I wish to convert it to the MOBI format for my Kindle.
This conversion produces a MOBI file that is much larger than my PDF file! I tried to look at the MOBI file using my PC's kindle viewer and all pages remained unchanged. This means that it misread all the text from my PDF file as a picture - and no text was even detected. I have a taken a look at the FAQ but I do not know how to resolve this problem. Is Calibre the best software I can use for PDF to MOBI conversion? My text is a standard one-column book with some pictures and I am surprised that Calibre is not detecting any text. |

It probably means that your pdf has no text in it. It probably has only pictures of text (scans of the pages). That is quite common. You have to run the pages through an OCR program to create text.
