This market fixed actually worked. I was able to registered my google account after I did your fix. I followed your directions more or less and it worked as you stated. Just a little side note, I had installed a modified version of ermine, v1.01.002 on my pocket edge recently. So far, everything worked as far as I can tell, I will just have to play with it to see if there are any known issues. Thanks ktwombley

Wow, interesting setup for people without a phone. Well done ktwombley. I have an android phone, so i'm good for now. But that doesn't mean I always will have what I need, so this is useful.

After the blog, i'm sure this will come up for those who fail to upgrade. Does the USB stick need to be fat/fat32 as usual with updates?

EDIT and UPDATE: RE-installed Allmine 2.0 and GApps on 10/12 (after wiping and starting from ktwombley's modified golden update late last week.) Smooth as butter. Every bug I mention in the posts below is fixed.

Whoops, found a couple bugs...
Minor: Camera app looks "squished" in the viewfinder window. Pics come out okay though.
Major: My edge says my library is empty, although my .edge and .content directories still exist and are full as I left them last. Any ideas on a fix?

When you skipped directly to the allmine step were you starting at 1.6 or 2.2?

johnseeking - when the library shows as empty, what happens if you try to add a book to it?

(when I half-broke the eink side on mine (see other thread), not only did the library show up empty but anything I added seemed to add successfully but then still nothing would show up in the library)

...

I was curious to try this myself, having just done a clean golden and ermine install. but used 1.01 of ermine, so already have gapps on there - sounds like it's better to go from no gapps at all?

but now thinking I may give it some time, sounds like there may be some bugs to work out...

but hopefully the less-checks golden update may work for vicinc...

It won't let me add any books to my library. I get an error. "Could not insert into database."

Oddly enough, I can click the "reader" button and pull up a list of my recently read files, and it WILL find and open them. But "library" is definitely broken unless I can figure out how to get it to see those directories again.

Another dealbreaker: the touchpad is now too fast and sensitive to the point of unusability. (scrolls like three times as far)

On the upside, the time it takes between shutting my PE and it going to sleep has been dramatically slashed.

Any chance I can downgrade this without wiping EVERYTHING?

Dang it. Applying the hellbent golden update now. I really shouldn't make decisions like this at 4:30 AM. Stupid, stupid, stupid...

john, can you send me a logcat of when you try messing with your library?

If you're not familiar, then go to the market and download this:

https://market.android.com/details?id=org.jtb.alogcat

Run alogcat, then go try doing stuff with your library.

Then go back into alogcat, hit menu, then share, then gmail, and send the logs to:

edgejr-bugs@bellybuttonporn.com

Okay, I tried it on mine, and I confirm the error.

I will decompile the library app and see what's going wrong.

For posterity's sake, I was running 2.2, rooted with Z4. I had my library on my sd card.

Sorry I didn't grab any logs before I wiped and reinstalled. For the record, the google apps were working flawlessly. And that was hella' cool.

I believe I have a solution to the problem. I will have to recompile framework.jar and ReaderService.
