That's funny... I was just looking up the dimensions of the Kobo Glo so I could begin making a leather cover.

I'm still drinking more Keemun tea... That's all I've had today besides the Starbuck's iced tea at lunch time.

Yes, I don't like my ereader to go naked, as I have dropped some of them and they survived only because of the sturdy covers.
I think I go and look for the dimensions and email Oberon.

I'm planning this cover to have four layers; leather lining, neoprene, thin hard Kydex plastic, and leather outer cover. That way I won't need to carry it in a more protective sleeve except for long distance traveling. I have everything here in the house, so once I get the actual dimensions, I can begin putting it together... unless I want to get fancy and do some leather tooling on the cover. I'm planning a thick round Mexican braid for the edges just because that will 'close' the front and back together more than just stitching, being thicker, and giving some extra protection to the sides.

You might do the 'Hokusai wave' on the front? (being in Japan, I mean)

Well... I 'could...' but I was never a fan of 'pictures in leather.' When I first started leather crafting, modeling and dying leather pictures was the popular trend. But I prefer the natural color of leathers, perhaps just darkening them with a bit of oil or brown stain. I could never stand to see nice leather dyed blue and red and green and white, etc., etc. I like shapes and patterns, flowers and vines, and at most, something like a tree, a Celtic design, etc. A blue wave with white tips just doesn't move me in leather. I like the design in other mediums, just not in leather.

I didn't even realize there were green Pu-Ehr teas. Just goes to show you learn something here every day.

For me, a starting glass of fresh squeezed orange juice -- blood oranges! And a mug of Holiday Breakfast Blend.

Cooked vs Raw

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pu-erh_tea

After picking appropriate tender leaves, the first step in making raw or ripened pu'er is an optional wilting/withering stage, thus converting the leaf to maocha = Raw

"Ripened" Shou Cha (熟茶) tea is pressed maocha that has been specially processed to imitate aged "raw" Sheng Cha tea. Although it is also known as cooked pu-erh, the process does not actually employ cooking to imitate the aging process. = Cooked/Ripened

Wow, Stitchawl, please post a picture of your leather cover as you are working and when done. My brother does leather work, but mostly belts, saddle bags, etc.. and likes the stamping tools the best. He loves to pound on them....great stress relief.

desertblues - I've always loved the simple look of the World Tree cover, but I haven't yet purchased one.

Fresh cup of coffee and apple slices on my plate.

I love the dragon covers. I have the cloud dragon in red for my K3 and the sky dragon, which it looks like they retired, in red for my K1. A purple sun for the DXG, Celtic Hounds in saddle for Lucas's journal, and the bold celtic in saddle for my iPad.

I love the look and feel of the Dragon covers, and I bought one for my Paperwhite. But it doesn't activate the on/off switch that the standard cover does, making it a pain. So I don't use it.

Diet Coke here.

Woke up this mornin' feelin' fine
There's somethin' special on my mind
Last night I met a new girl in the neighbourhood, whoa yeah
Somethin' tells me I'm into something good
(Somethin' tells me I'm into somethin')

She's the kind of girl who's not too shy
And I can tell I'm her kind of guy
She danced close to me like I hoped she would
(she danced with me like I hoped she would)
Somethin' tells me I'm into something good

Good morning, everyone! We survived the Ides of January! Yippee! I'm celebrating with a cup of Taylors of Harrogate's "Yorkshire" tea, a bowl of rice with a few Kalamata olives, tofu instead of Feta, and some Prosciutto. Still keeping under 300 calories... Looks as if it's going to be another good day in the neighborhood!

I like the stamping and modeling too. It's fun to see the designs emerge from the surface of the leather. But most of all I love to do the braiding. I don't know why... The attachment is a left-handed skiving knife I made for myself, and the cover for it. It's hard to find left-handed leather working tools, so I tend to make them myself. Fun to make, but the leather braiding was the best part!

If the Paperwhite's activation switch functions the same way as the Kobo's, it's EASY to fix that problem. All you need is a thin magnet and some tape (or thin leather) the same color as your cover. The most powerful magnets can be found inside old dead hard drives, above and below the base of the read/write arm. Only 2mm thick and VERY, VERY strong! On the Kobo, the activation 'point' is just under the screen on the lower left side. The magnet inside the cover of the Sleep case is embedded into the case, but you can use the thin magnet taped to the inside of your case. Just locate the correct position under the screen, and tape the magnet to your case in the proper place. If you can't get a hard drive magnet, Radio Shack sells good ones too, just not as strong. The real key is to use a thin one... Duct tape will cover the magnet, holding it in place. Just be sure to activate the correct setting to use the sleep/wake feature. Open the case, wake up the device. Close the case, put it to sleep. No problem.

Your handiwork is amazing, Stitchawl. You seem to be awfully capable, is there anything you don't know or can't do?

And congratulations, Stitchawl and Blues

On a totally unrelated topic, is it recommended to remove the preinstalled screen protector on Sony phone? It gets scratches, dust and fingerprints too easily and that's just annoying to apply another sceen protector on top of the preinstalled one. Anyone using Sony smartphone here?
