Yeah I doubt streaming of books is going to take off anytime soon, music interruptions are annoying, but the sudden disappearance of pages of text

What would be even weirder is having the books stored on your ereader but having to authenticate yourself with a remote server in order to read them

And I would never put my entire business on someone else's hardware either. It's beautiful while it works, but catastrophic when it doesn't... you can't just roll up your sleeves and get to work on the problem when it does go tits-up.

Just keep in mind, hosting your own site is hardly bullet-proof either, especially if you can't afford to keep a bunch of web and DB admins on an electronic leash. And, of course, lot of companies rely on hosted services anyway.

By the way, reddit is back up. So there goes your productivity.
