The line text-indent=0 !important should override it, it does in the calibre reader,it does in the sigil editor, but it doesn't have any effect on the prs-T1.
I don't know if that's the reason for it not working, but you cannot use equal signs in CSS.
Try text-indent:0 !important, and perhaps you'll get lucky.

The important ! tag overules all others no matter how much <p class="indent"> there is, only it's not supported bij the Sony, like I said, it does bij almost every other reader.
Sony just doesn't follow the newest epub standard.

So, I installed JuneReader a couple of days ago on my rooted T1 and initially it was excellent. However, for some reason, the books on the homescreen remain the last ones added, and regularly the time/clock dissapears, causing me to run EbookReader.apk again.
Is this just me, is there someway to overcome these issues, or is it a matter of unrooting it, and then just installing JuneReader?
Thanks

Right, unrooted the T1 and had another go at June.
Installed without a hitch, and time is back in the bottom right hand corner, however, the homescreen still shows the last added books, rather than the last read. Suggestions on getting this fixed are much appreciated

The modified reader and the modified homescreen are two separate packages, both by Morkl. This thread is actually about the modified homescreen, but discussion recently has been about the modified reader.

hwlester is correct, Morkl's modified reader app (EbookReader.apk) has no effect on the home screen at all. His modified homescreen app does, but I don't use this one so I'm not sure whether it does what you want.

There is another way to get recently read books on the homescreen. It is detailed in this post. It involves manually editing the books.db database (one time only) with a bit of SQL. If you are familiar with SQL, reading post #1 may be enough. If you're not, keep reading, there are other posts which detail how to apply the change on Windows, OSX and Linux.

I'm working on customizing the PRS-T1 in a different way than the SonyPrsT1Home project; instead of creating a new home screen I'm modifying the stock one (also: other stock Sony apps). Why? Because I like the look and layout of the stock home screen and it's a great way for me to pick up some Android and Dalvik knowledge.

If you miss a certain feature on the PRS-T1, don't hesitate to say so!

Latest version (Home and Reader) as of this writing: 2012-01-22

Main features
  • Home screen
  • Recently Added instead of Recently Read (will be made optional when I get around to do it)
  • Custom apps can be set on all buttons
  • Stock launcher page activated
  • Reader
  • Bold/italics bug fixed
  • Custom fonts in the font selector
  • Custom font sizes in the font selector
  • Custom CSS
  • Customizable number of page turns between screen refreshes

NOTE 2012-01-20:
New releases are uploaded here, code is posted here. I'll keep posting updates in this thread, but this post may not always be up to date.

Old first post, saved for historical reasons:
Spoiler:

Changelog:
  • v6
  • Apps page categories appear in the same order as the config
  • Broadcasts intent for screensaver update on book launch
  • Reload configuration by pressing back button
  • v5
  • Favourite apps above 3rd page app drawer. Still using the the stock scrolling component for the rest of the apps.
  • Custom configurable categories on the app screen
  • New configuration file with better structure
  • v4:
  • Stock app drawer enabled by default; no need to meddle with system files
  • v3:
  • Updates last read time when launching book from home screen no matter what reader is used
  • Custom apps can be added to home screen and apps screen
  • Installs as a normal apk
  • v2:
  • Sorts "Recently Read" books by last read time by itself, no need for books.db hack
  • v1:
  • "Recently added" string changed to "Recently read" (relies on books.db hack to get the order right)

Installation:
V1 and v2 are installed the same way as the root packages, with flash_reader.bat and whatnot. >=V3 is installed like a normal APK.
Don't install V1 or V2 on an unrooted device - it breaks things!

Files:
v6: http://morkl.se/reader/homemod_v6.zip
v5: http://morkl.se/reader/homemod_v5.zip
v4: http://morkl.se/reader/homemod_v4.zip
v3: http://morkl.se/reader/homemod_v3.zip
v2: http://morkl.se/reader/recentlyread_v2.zip
v1: http://morkl.se/reader/recentlyread.zip
Restore original home screen: http://morkl.se/reader/recentlyread_undo.zip

Modified Reader app, with bold/italics working with the font selector:
http://morkl.se/reader/readermod_v2.zip - crashes when opening more->settings, new package coming soon

Future:
  • Updating the last read time when launching a book (in another reader than Sonys own) currently only works from the home screen, not from the Books or Collections screens. That ought to be fixed.
  • Clock, battery indicator
  • "Open Last Collection" button
  • Better app drawer, possibly like this (todo: make static instead of scrolly)
  • Last read book's cover as screen saver when using non-stock reader works when launching book from home screen or modified reader/content manager
  • Make "Recently read" an option, some prefer the "Recently added" mode
  • Documentation
  • Does anyone else have any requests, irks or other ideas about how to make the stock home screen better?

Not quite home screen but should be done anyway:

Cheers!
Hope to see all this stuff on my T2

Just hope for the 24 hour clock, untill now I see only homescreens that try to imitate the 650 so Sony didn't made such a good move with the prs-T1 and there are so many errors in the T2 that I send it back, When browsing on the internet, the flicker and constant rebuilding makes me nuts to,thats why I don't root the sony ( every other device is rooted) I keep it as close as it is to e-reading and this is the closest thing.
Just to bad that the ! important doesn't work so I could override some thigs but I am happy with this, thanks,used my watch polisher on the T1 and ever scratch is gone, it look like new..it's good for me

just thought i would let you know i have been messing with the clock and if you change the clock in the settings from 24 hour to 12 hour via \settings\date and time settings\ uncheck 24-hour format you will get a 12 hour clock. enjoy

edit: by 12 hour clock i mean when you are reading a book in the lower corner as well as the normal clock.

Hello.

First of all, thank you all for the great help offered here. And second of all, thanks to Morkl for the awesome modified reader. It is such a help to me!

One thing I experience all the time I reboot my reader is that the modified reader app just goes back to normal. Only when I reinstall the APK File again, it will be up and running again. Any suggestions on how to fix that?

Also another side-question: When putting packages on the reader with the Reboot & Update process it just will not work. Tried to install Apps2SD like 5 times that way, and it's still not working. What I did was, switching off the reader, Holding down Home and Menu and then the Power button to switch it on. Still holding on to home and menu until the loading bar appears.
Do I have to hold it down all the way through? I just can't figure out what exactly I did do different, the last time the root package installed that way.

Thanks for the help.

Do you mean resetting the whole reader to stock firmware and starting modifying it all over again?

Could it also be a permission problem? (That's what I thought of)

replacing default reader font

Reading the instructions to install the modified reader without rooting the PRS-T1, I have found:

Quote:
  • Edit reader.xml and css files (in the "reader" folder) as desired.
In the reader/reader.xml file there are:

Code:
	<fonts>
		<font name="Amasis" regular="AmasisMTW1G.otf" italic="AmasisMTW1G-Italic.otf" bold="AmasisMTW1G-Bold.otf" bolditalic="AmasisMTW1G-BoldItalic.otf" />
		<font name="Palatino Nova" regular="PalatinoNovaW1G-Regular.otf" italic="PalatinoNovaW1G-Italic.otf" bold="PalatinoNovaW1G-Bold.otf" bolditalic="PalatinoNovaW1G-BoldItalic.otf" />
		<font name="Really No 2" regular="ReallyNo2LTW1G-Regular.otf" italic="ReallyNo2LTW1G-Italic.otf" bold="ReallyNo2LTW1G-Bold.otf" bolditalic="ReallyNo2LTW1G-BoldItalic.otf" />
		<font name="Frutiger" regular="FrutigerNeueLTW1G-Regular.otf" italic="FrutigerNeueLTW1G-Italic.otf" bold="FrutigerNeueLTW1G-Bold.otf" bolditalic="FrutigerNeueLTW1G-BoldItalic.otf" />
		<font name="Univers Next" regular="UniversNextW1G-Regular.otf" italic="UniversNextW1G-Italic.otf" bold="UniversNextW1G-Bold.otf" bolditalic="UniversNextW1G-BoldItalic.otf" />
		<font name="Quirkus" path="../../mnt/sdcard/reader/fonts/" regular="Quirkus.ttf" italic="Quirkus-I.ttf" bold="Quirkus-B.ttf" bolditalic="Quirkus-BI.ttf" />
	</fonts>
I guess that the css files are generated when rebooting after copying the files.

But my question is: how can I change the default font?

This is the only thing I want to do, to install FreeSerif (FreeSans and FreeMono when possible) and be able to use it as the default font. So I'd like to know first, before installing anything on the PRS-T1 (it isn't mine and I'd like to avoid anything, if the default font cannot be changed).

Many thanks for your help.
