Question What is the icon that appears when you tap top right

I have noticed that when reading, if you tap the top right hand corner a small icon appears (small triangle, looks like a page flip icon or something).

What does this do?

It's a bookmark. See the User Guide for details.

You can set or clear a bookmark from the menu, too, but tapping the top right corner of the page is a shortcut way of doing it. The symbol represents a folded down page corner.

If only it were easier to jump to a bookmark. Kindle 1 had a way of navigating directly to the next/previous bookmark, but since then it's been buried in 'View Notes and Marks'. I think it sort of defeats the purpose of having them in the first place. Bookmark navigation should be fast, not 4 or 5 steps.

I'm not picking on Kindle in particular, nobody else does them any better, but bookmarks should be as easy as finding dogeared pages (or other navigational aids) in a physical book and they are not.

For example a two finger swipe could jump to next/previous bookmark. Or the GoTo dialog could include a list of bookmarks (ideally interleaved with defined navpoints).

After you get to View Notes and Marks press Menu \ Show and then choose whether to show:

1. All Notes & Marks
2. Your Notes & Marks
3. Your Notes
4. Your Bookmarks
5. Your Highlights
6. Public Notes
7. Popular Highlights

Whatever you select will be held in memory for every time you use View Notes & Marks.
