A question for new Kindle 3 owner

I used to have a Kindle 2, the back is metal it's very nice.
I am interested in going back to Kindle and getting Kindle 3 WiFi. However, I am looking at the Amazon photos, looks like the back is now plastic? Could someone with a Kindle 3 confirm this?
Thanks.

Yes. It is plastic with a grippy rubbery texture.

I agree that the back is plastic but I would not describe it as either grippy or rubbery. Of course my other ereader is a Kobo, and it has a rubber quilted backing (very grippy, very rubbery).

Thanks for the replies. Hmmm, cost cutting? I guess I will miss the shiny metal back a lot.

I wouldn't let the choice of material for the back put you off. The front more than makes up for it.

True. It isn't particularly grippy but it does have a slightly more grippy texture than the front. Its not completely smooth like the metal back on the Kindle 2 anyway.
