Possible to turn off the status/landscape manga resolution

Anyone know if it's possible to turn off the status at the bottom that displays power and page number to get the full 800x600?

Also does anyone know what the optimal resolution to re-size mangas is to for landscape viewing? I would assume 800x1200, but the reader seems to shrink the PDF widthwise so that only 75% of the width is used. I believe this is so that a portion of the image is overlapped from the top panel to the bottom panel, to keep your place, but still I'd like for the whole screen to be utlized.
