In this page there is a package called Integration procedures backup / restore (Google translate). I never used it but you might want to try it.
Is your Reader rooted? If it is, with which package? Did you flash the App2SD package? You may want to unroot it and see if this solves your problem first. Last edited by entodoays; 07-19-2013 at 02:57 AM. |

AMR is the rooting package. You simply download it, unzip it and, on a Windows computer, plug the Reader and run the flash_reader.bat file.
However, I don't think this will solve your issue. There's a package for automatic backup and restore that you could install like AMR. I never used it but maybe @Rupor could help you with this. He helped me with other issues I had. |

You have to press HOME and MENU before you press the power button and keep them pressed until the "opening book" progress bar reaches the end.

Hi folks, I just ran into something - bad blocks on the internal flash drive - and the dictionary partition was affected on my PRST1!
This could definitely cause freezes, too! My dictionary partition had more than 100 bad blocks Fortunately, rupor has a backup of the dictionary files: http://projects.mobileread.com/reade...rupor-dicts.7z I extracted them manually and copied them over the broken ones after marking all bad blocks. (Applying the flash package would make the reader forget about the bad blocks, so beware!!!) I updated the wiki on how to scan for file system errors: https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/PRST...and_bad_blocks Last edited by uboot; 08-12-2013 at 03:57 PM. |

Hi!
I had the freezing problem and now I've solved it. Detail of the problem: I touch a word, get the dictionary for it, touch again; then put the reader in stand-by. Open again, touch a word, the reader freezes. My solution: I have substituted the image I used as a stand-by cover by a smaller one. No more freezing! The "good" image is 30421 bytes big; its double version did not work. Maybe a slightly bigger one would also do (I have a sort of black frame around the image) but I'm content with this. |

But setting a 800x600 blank image (png or jpeg) as stand-by cover doesn't help. Would you, please, share your stand-by cover image ? Or at least its format and dimensions ? |

My T1 is set for no image. When it's asleep it just says "Reader is in sleep mode. Push the power button to wake up". I still get the dictionary lockup.

I had problem recently. Did a factory reset and haven't had it since. I don't know what this happens.

I did a factory reset last year because of a different issue. It did not fix the dictionary lookup problem.
I can't see any pattern to the lockups. Sometimes I can read almost a whole book with plenty of dictionary lookups without any freezing, other times the freeze happens much more frequently. One thing that seems to be guaranteed to cause a lockup is switching to one of the non-English dictionaries. |
