No, i've just started building a VM to have a look. I'm just looking at compiling a linux version to boot on the SD card right now. Depending on how it goes i'll check what can be added. I'm a bit scared to play with the Cool-er uboot, as i had to re install the firmware a few times already and i'm in the middle of a good book

As far as i know OpenInkpot will not run on the Cool-er on it's current state. The Hanvon has number keys wich were used for Madshelf so i'll probably start with that.

Well i really wanted to have a go, but my cool-er died and i managed to have it replaced by a PRS505 rather than having it repaired.

Sorry, i'm a shameless traitor

How long did it last before it's untimely demise?

And how does the PRS505 compare?

(I'm on my 3rd Cool-er... this one's still going strong, but I still worry...)

It lasted about 4 months, but it was my own fault if it broke so no complain from me.

I'll receive the PRS505 monday or tuesday so i can't tell yet if it's better.

Looks like we're on our own for this. I'm interested in working on some of this stuff- it's a neat project, but i'm so rusty I don't know where to start. Any ideas how to break it down, what sort of stuff needs to be looked into first?

OI isn't developed for the EB600 anymore, AFAIK.

They do have some files for it, in their archive I have no idea how much that really is, though, as I don't really understand that archiving system.
Don't waste your time installing the OI development system if you only want to use it for the EB600.
Their compiler cannot write the correct files, it would need to be recompiled with other libraries.
(Don't take all of what I wrote for granted though - I'm writing from memory and bad experience. Perhaps I did something wrong or it is better now.)

I found that the PocketBook SDK has a compiler that can easily create binaries for the EB600.
As long as you only use the standard libraries that are installed, or have the compiler include them in the final binary, it should be easy to compile and use a program on the Cool-Er/EB600.
Writing it, though, probably is more work.

The main application is the EBRMAIN - I suppose it should be possible to replace it with something else.
I never tried that. Most I managed was a simple C program that called a shell script.
No text output because it didn't work :-/

Of course the obligatory warning: don't blame me if you break something.
