FONTS

I have a book in txt format.

I have calibre

I see in calibre I can change the font size, but can I change the actual font?

I will convert to lrf format.

I want to use a different font than the default on the SONY PRS505.

How can I do this? Different program?

In other-words ow can I embed a different font in the converted lrf file so that the default is not used in the SONY?

See post 18 of this thread for detailed instructions. The buzz is that fontin is a good font for the Sonys. A Google search will bring up web sites where you can download free fonts. Haven't been able to try it myself since I still have no reader.

Thanks

I think it worked. I really appreciate your reply.

Is there any way of telling that the font was used other than "looking"?

The link above says it's for creating links in EPUB books to use different fonts saved on the Sony. I don't believe it works for LRFs. For LRFs, you have an option in Calibre (well, I assume it's still there in 0.6, I can't get it to work right on my computer) to IMBED the font in the LRF file.

The results are hit-and-miss per font. So, I could get it to work for Georgia font, but not for Verdana. The only way I know to test it is to create one and open it in the Reader. The file will be larger than normal by about the size of the font, but there's no guarantee the Sony will read it with the embedded font (that was my experience, anyway).
