Problem with Metadata Editor in 0.8
Ever since I installed 0.8, when I go to edit metadata on a book, the Author dropdown is all messed up. At a guess, it's in unicode, not regular ASCII. Impossible to use.
The current author is displayed correctly, and the database reports no corruption. I was running the 0.8 bits during the 0.7x stage. Platform is Windows 7, 64-bit. Confirmed on two different machines. (Same database, centrally shared from my Windows Home Server. ) |

There was a 'slipstream' fix, Un-install and discard the old installation files. Grab a FRESH copy and install that one. |

Yup. Missed them entirely.
Will grab new bits. Since I hadn't seen the version change, I hadn't known there was a slipstream fix. Thanks. |

New bits fixed it. Thanks!
FWIW, I would always prefer a version number bump rather than slipstreaming with no change in version. It's just much harder to keep track of who has what. I know when I managed version control, we didn't slipstream, we bumped the version number. But, OTOH, there may well be reasons behind the scene that I'm not seeing that make it much easier/quicker to change the publicly visible bits without bumping the version number. |
