Those who fail are returned to their home Societies, but with the addition of a crimson mark, permanently embedded onto the base of their necks, and no memory of their time away.

But the challenges are far harder than Sage imagined, especially when competing against the warrior-like members of Fire Society. And a particular male with piercing-blue eyes seems the worst of all. It's only after they are pitted against each other during a challenge and she’s injured that Coal offers help, a form of help that can put his entire family at risk. What neither of them realizes is the existence of an ancient bond between Earth and Fire, a bond that is destined to link them.

But everyone has secrets and Sage is no exception. The past choices she’s made continue to haunt her, until the lies she’s been told her entire life finally begin to unravel.

This is the first book in a three-part YA series (Books 2 and 3 soon to be released) that follows Sage as she leaves Elemental, traversing foreign lands to find answers to the questions that have long plagued her as she learns of a history she’s never known and ends up fighting for a future long deserved.
