Soft Hyphens Deleted When Opened in Book View

As soon as a text element in my epub is rendered in Sigil's Book View, it gets rewritten and sometimes irrerovcably altered. For instance, I had added a large number of soft hyphens (&shy

into a document, and they were all removed from the document.
Sigil 0.2 on OS X 10.5.8

They're not removed, just "rendered" as actual (invisible) soft hyphens instead of entities. They're still there.

There's an issue on the tracker for replacing problematic characters back into entities.

Maybe there should be an option to make the soft hyphens (and probably other things like non-breaking spaces too) visible. And should there not be a real hyphen at the end of a line in book view when a word is broken at a soft hyphen?

I have no idea if Webkit can do this kind of thing, however, so it may actually be very difficult to do.

It can't, and yes, automatic hyphenation is extremely difficult to do.
