Portable Calibre Server on Windows 7 Problem
I can use Portable Calibre on my Win7-64 at both home and work. The program runs and works fine adding and managing books. As admin, I granted Calibre both local net and internet access, and permission to act as a server.
My problem is that when I connect Stanza via "get books," it can detect that the server is up, but times out trying to get a list of books, even if I set things up so that there's only one book in the library. Any troubleshooting help appreciated. Thank you. |

I think I've fixed it. The calibre-server.exe is NOT calibre.exe, and needs its own network authorization to allow downloading of ebooks. I will re-test this after I reboot my system tomorrow morning and report if it's still OK, but the download I just ran worked fine.

Re-tested this morning after rebooting, just to be sure it was a setting and not a glitch. Yes, you have to give separate authorizations for each component that needs network access.
The downside here is that the firewall doesn't TELL you it's blocking something and ask whether you would like to allow this. |
