Plugin Menu Layout
For anyone whose main toolbar is getting cluttered might I suggest putting most of your plugins in the right click menu. See attached image for one of a thousand ways of setting up your plugin menus.

I add it to "all of the above" and then remove it from my tool bar if I realise I don't really need it there.

I consider the usage of the plugin as to wether it is an 'overall/general_use' plugin, like Update or a per-title PI.
I don't know if the Installer can have suggested location(s) pre-selected (the user can accept or change)? Do we need a 'toolbox folder' to throw additional Icons into on the toolbar (Firefox and IE allow folders on the toolbar)? |

It should be fairly trivial to write a plugin that can contain other plugins. The only problem is you can have only one such plugin on your toolbar.

Hey dwanthny I don't see my plugin there
After reading this I realized I'm overly-restricting the user on where the plugin can be added. Mainly because I though the context menus were meant for per-book selections but obviously they can be general use as well. I'll make sure I allow adding it to the context menus again in the next version. At least you still get to see a really tiny version of the icon I created |

That's because my Sony has no trouble allowing calibre to create and maintain collections according to rules I set into the Device interface plugin.
Some things I want in front of me like the Search History back plugin or the Quick preferences plugin. But the rest I like tucked into my right click context menu. |
