It rained most of the day, but that did cool it down a bit. It hit 80 in the morning, before the rain started, but it has been in the 70s ever since.

Wow! It was hot today -- nearly 100º * -- and extraordinarily humid with absolutely no breeze. We had a brief downpour at about 4:00, but that didn't cool things down, it just made them steamier.
* We use the Fahrenheit system here, but on a day like today really only the Fahrenheit system applies. When I walked out the door it felt like 100º definitely not like 38º! |

If the past few days hadn't been so witheringly hot and humid today would have qualified as "hot and humid."
As it is, it was a nice break! |

Record breaking torrential rains & storms for hours last night (not exaggerating - 4 hours of near continuous heavy downpours) - water rescues of stranded vehicles in Durham streets ! Shoppers stranded in Crabtree Valley Mall when the parking garage flooded!

Not sure just how much rain we got last night as I slept through most of it, but my grandson isn't going to be very happy when he gets up and finds his mother left the $30 electric clippers he paid for with his own money the lawn table on the deck last night.

I didn't have much time for the back deck but it was mostly sunny and temps hit the low 90s, but the humidity was on the comfortable side. Unfortunately, we're entering peak mosquito season. Most come out just before sunset, when temperatures are most likely to be comfortable, but the Asian Tiger mosquitoes are out all day long.
