That's not quite what I was looking for: I'd like to present the user with a preview of what the merge result (handwriting + book page) would look like. This involves generating a single PDF page using existing routines for merging and displaying it in the plugin interface. There doesn't have to be any user interaction with the page on display - a PDF rendered on a QWidget would be more that sufficient.

The goal is to provide the user with the possibility to change the x and y offsets and scaling of handwriting.

Then no, you're out of luck.

(note that any piece of code that will render (rasterise) a PDF into an image - which can then be shown in the interface - is fine as well!)

You can probably easily add code to the calibre poppler python module to do the same thing that pfttoppm does. Feel free to ask if you have questions about that.

First version of this plugin is available: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=173321.

For now: no preview and no EPUB support.
