Difficulty Scrolling in web browsers

When I access certain pages (not optimized for small screens), there are vertical scroll bars that appear on my PC but not when I view that page on my nook.

It happens with the built in browser and with Dolphin HD.

If anyone wants to bother to check it out go to www.expertconsult.com, preview a book and either expand the TOC on the left, or if the text in the box on the right is more than one tablet page long, try to scroll down. No vertical bars appear and I basically can't navigate in that frame.

Any suggestions?

PS: Opera and Firefox don't seem to be options as I don't seem able to log in to that site (to read my actual purchased book) using those browsers.

Actually, there probably isn't a good solution for this. Android (up to 2.2) doesn't support the scroll bars in this case (see WebKit Support Matrix and check out the 'Overflow' test - Android fails.)

I did read where one person was able to deconstruct the iframes on the web page and make a bookmarklet to the content directly and then scroll.

Wow! That's a bit of a surprise; it seems like a fairly basic function. Thanks very much for the info though, I'll stop trying different browsers, etc.
Maybe when my Nook gets an updated Android.

Yes and no. The html design of the page is rather advanced (fixed-height DIV sections with scrollable content) -- most well designed websites won't use them and most poorly designed ones don't even think to try.

There are ways to design this type of page through javascript and make it more compatible. I don't know if the owners of the site are open to suggestions, but you might drop them a note saying you can't read your purchased books on android tablets and point them to the iscroll alternative implementation.

That might be a long way off. The upcoming update will be to Android 2.2 and that still lacks support for this function. It is unknown whether 2.3 will fix this issue.
