Wrong ratings in the catalog

Hi!

I exported a catalog to CSV format. Everything looks great and I love the option, but my ratings somehow go up to 10. Three star in Calibre is 6 for some reason in the csv file, or another number on another book. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to them. Anyone know why this would be happening?

Internal to the calibre database ratings are stored as a number from 0-10. For consistency and compatibility with future changes to the database, the rating value is reported as it exists in the database. The best way to deal with this would be to write a function in your spreadsheet which displays the rating value divided by 2.

IIRC, the reason for this is that Kovid wanted to allow for half stars at some future time.

Wasn't the problem, that Calibre users could not agree which way a 'Half-Star' should be cut and Kovid threw up his hands (again)?

Wait, how can that even be an issue? There's only one possible interpretation for, say, 3.5 stars, and that is three and a half stars.

Do you split a Star: Vertical, Horizontal, Bend Sinister, Bend Dexter?

Does that even matter? It's just graphics... Though to answer, I'd say since the stars are represented horizontally with the fill going from left to right, then a half star would be the left half of a star.
