<< Calibre in Ubuntu 20.04 >>

Hello,

I am using Calibre (4.99.4+dfsg+really4.12.0-1build1 from ubuntu-focal-universe).

I was using normally, but now I got the following messages when tried to run Calibre:

Code:
(base) icamps@varadero:~$ calibre
Gtk-Message: 09:44:03.334: Failed to load module "pk-gtk-module"
Gtk-Message: 09:44:03.335: Failed to load module "pk-gtk-module"
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/calibre", line 20, in <module>
    sys.exit(calibre())
  File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/gui_launch.py", line 73, in calibre
    main(args)
  File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/gui2/main.py", line 543, in main
    listener = create_listener()
  File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/gui2/main.py", line 514, in create_listener
    return Listener(address=gui_socket_address())
  File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/utils/ipc/server.py", line 110, in __init__
    self._listener._unlink.cancel()
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'cancel'
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Ditch the Repository version. They mess it up or it is outdated.
Use the Linux command line install furnished at the Calibre download site. Do read the notes.

You've made the same mistake as many other Linux users. You downloaded Calibre from the repository and got a beta of Calibre. You need to go to the official Calibre website and download from there. Never ever use a Linux repository for anything related to Calibre.

But why is this thread moved to devices when it's not about any specific device? It belongs in the plain Calibre forum not the Calibre Devices forum.

I have to confess that the first thing I did was to look which sub-forum was better for installation issues, then I ended posting in Development.

Repositories are the #1 issue with Calibre and Linux.

I'm with Jon on this. Despite the sub-forum text, putting OS related issues in Devices has never made much sense to me. It's not the first place I'd look for a threads relating to the platform on which I run the calibre e-book manager.
