Mug o' tea #3. It's been a slow day. I've even been able to read a bit.

Glass of Glenlivit 12yr. Wouldn't be my first choice, but it was a gift from someone I did some computer recovery for. And it is actually quite respectable, though not my Talisker.

Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere, I've looked at clouds that way But now they only block the sun they rain and snow on everyone So many things I would have done, but clouds got in my way I've looked at clouds from both sides now From up and down and still somehow It's cloud's illusions I recall I really don't know clouds at all ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8jGFu7ys64 ) Good morning, everyone! The sky really is filled with clouds this morning, and I can see the line of the storm coming across the valley towards us. It's gonna be a blow! One advantage to living high up in an area with few tall buildings is that you really can see the weather coming at you, and a sky full of wonderful cloud shapes. I got lucky yesterday at the import supermarket. They had Ahmad's "English Breakfast" tea as well as "English Breakfast No.1" There was also a full selection of Dilmah's teas (I like their Ceylon.) So this morning I threw away all that horrid Twining's 'English Breakfast' tea and have a big mug of Ahmad's at hand. After three weeks of Twinings, Ahmad is like the Nectar of God! Combination of the food lady off on Sundays and rain outside pushes us to cook our first meal in this new country. Chinese style scrambled eggs, British sausages, and English muffins, eaten by an American and a Japanese in Thailand. Ya gotta love the internationalization of it all! Rainy Sunday... what to do? I was thinking about inviting some friends over to play music, but then I realized I don't have any chairs for them to sit on! Can I say "Hey, come on over but stop at the store for a chair?" Think I'm going to have to pick up a few stacking plastic chairs... Plenty of room for them here... the dining room is bigger than our whole Japanese apartment! More good Ahmad tea, then let the games begin! Stitchawl |

Glad you found some decent tea. It really makes a difference! And, hopefully you'll have your boxes soon.
Just water. |

Yesterday a child came out to wander,
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar. Fearful, the skies were filled with thunder. Tearful at the falling of a star. And the seasons, they go go round and round. The painted ponies go up and down. We're captured on the carousel of time. We can't return, we can only look behind from where we came, And go round and round in the circle game. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7L0pKPRmB4 ) Good morning, everyone! Time flies when you're having fun. I've been in the Kingdom over a month already, and in this new apartment three weeks. It feels like home. It IS home! Nice to have Ahmad's "English Breakfast" tea with the Food Lady's Special. There really are so many things to choose from on her cart. I had rice, hard-cooked egg, Sour sausage, and red stuff with pork and green things. My wife had totally different foods (even a different type of rice,) and breakfast cost 70 baht for the two of us. That's about a dollar each! Same meal in a Thai restaurant in Japan would cost about $30.... Everything in the Food Lady's cart costs either 5 baht or 10 baht. Rice and eggs are 5 baht per serving, while all the different sausages, chicken, fish, and main dishes cost 10 baht each. (About 30 baht to the US dollar.) We are both over-eating... and loving every bite! Eggs made in a wok, with a lot of oil. Instead of oil I used ghee. Guaranteed to clog one's arteries simply by looking at it, but tastes sooo good. A splash of soy sauce and sesame oil is added while cooking. Just one more mug of tea before I hit the trail. I'm in search of "Yorkshire" tea today. Now that I'm mounted again I can check out the new supermarkets that have opened beyond the outer ring roads. Chiang Mai is growing by leaps and bounds, with 5 new shopping malls built while I was in Japan this time. And there are two more under construction, one being just a kilometer away and will have another Import Foods supermarket inside! I'm still walking 5-10k each day, but the sheer volume of food I'm eating is winning the race... Stitchawl |

Ah, eggs cooked in ghee. You're right, 911 on a plate. Love it. (I have to make my own ghee here, since I can't get it any other way.)
Today, lots of Anniversary Breakfast Blend all day, but then finished with a 2003 Ridge Sonoma County Three Valleys Zinfandel. A field blend of 5 different grapes, with Zinfandel making up about 73%. Not bad. It's been interesting to see the change over the life of the wine as different grapes come to the fore or drop back. Right now, the 4% Grenache that's in it is right at the very front of the mouth, but then completely disappears in the finish. And the Mourvedre is apparently gone completely, since I'm not picking up any of that black pepper that I expect from it. |

Coffee on the way in. Rooibos Chocolate Mint in my cup. I have been ignoring the rooibos for a while now, burnt out after drinking them for 39 weeks. I brought in a larger glass mug and my tea infuser for my teas that require boiling water and am nuking the water. Not ideal but I cannot watch the doodad that Stitch suggested in the office so it is the best alternative I have. I brought in all of my teas that require 195-175 because the two hot water taps come in close to that. So nuke water occassionally and drink some good greens and Oolongs in between.
We had a nice vacation over the Fourth. DH had a tennis playoff so we went to watch him play. Took in some local sights, watched some tennis, and played in the pool. TB slept through the night every night in his pack and play and did really well in the car. Allin all, a good four days. The dogs were excited when we got home. TB took a minute or two to adjust to having two creatures his height randomly walking up and sniffing him or licking his face. Dogs are readjusting to having TB walk on them if they are on the ground because TB still does not get the concept of not walking on living creatures. Of course, he woke up at 4:00 this morning and the dogs decided that they wanted to be up with him. So he slept with me for an 90 minutes or so while the dogs sat by the beds staring at me wagging their tales hoping for breakfast. It was a minor comedt routine this morning. Toddler chattering in his crib wanting Daddy to wake up so he could play, dogs wanting to eat well before their appointed meal time, dogs jumping on and off the bed thinking that my getting ready was a signal that they could eat, Hubby trying to ignore all of this because he was tired from three tennis matches in 90 degree heat, driving for four hours, mowing the lawn, and two margaritas the night before. I think DH is going to have a rough day. |

Sol beer, with a slice of lime. Just right for this weather .
Did anyone see the Wimbledon men's final yesterday? 77 years in the making, but a Brit has finally done it! Had to have a beer or two to celebrate that as well. Last edited by orlok; 07-08-2013 at 01:13 PM. |

Yeah but you know you will really celebrate when it is someone from England proper and not a Scot! (winks)
Working on some Genmaicha right now. Four steepins and it is holding up nicely. I love good tea |
