Hello from Upstate NY/Ques re. library lending
Hi - After much research I finally bought a Nook Color today. Love it (I guess!) but after my first foray into my public library's ebooks site I found that 99.9% of the books are waitlisted. I mainly bought the Nook for borrowing library books and am distressed to find that it will not be easy. It looks like I have to waitlist for a book and then be notified when I can download it. Are there are national lending library services for ebooks - even if I have to pay for a membership? Thanks for any suggestions.

Welcome to MobileRead, Diana.
The only library I am aware of that you can buy membership from if not a resident is the Philadelphia Free Library. However, wait lists will be long because everyone seems to have the same idea you did. Go ahead and put yourself on the wait list, at least you'll eventually get to read that best seller for free! In the meantime, there are over 15,000 public domain books available here......click on the link below for help. |

Good to have your company, Diana. As DesertGrandma says, you needn't be stuck for free and quality reading while you wait. You'll very soon find your way around the resources. Happy Nooking and best wishes for 2011. Neil

I got my sony over 2 years ago... initially, I rarely had to wait for a title. Now, I need to wait months for some titles from the library. I have found some fantastic books on this site, however- both from the downloadable library and from the self-promotions and deals and freebies forums.
