Hi All,
I'm a research librarian by day and a writer by night. My first novel is being published in October as an ebook so I look forward to learning and sharing info along the way!

Dennis, to answer your question, I'm working with the publishing house Scott & Nix, Inc. Until this year they published only non-fiction - mostly nature books. But with the affordability that comes with doing ebooks they are now able to extend into fiction. A win-win scenario!

Well, it's a win if they can successfully sell fiction. It's a very different market than their traditional one, and success in one does not guarantee success in the other. And ebooks aren't as much cheaper as most folks assume. At least 80% of the costs of any book are incurred before it reaches the stage of being released, in print or electronic editions.

Still, I have to love an imprint that emphasizes design, and one of their links (not working, alas) is for the typefaces they use and where to purchase the fonts. (I was a designer before I became a computer geek.)

How did you happen to wind up working with them?

We had several mutual friends in the publishing world, plus I had helped them a few years back on a project.
Charles Nix designs a lot of great typefaces and is chair of the Type Directors Club in NYC. I'll ask them about that broken link.
