You can't read secure Adobe e-books on the Sony, yet. The recently demoed Adobe Digital Editions book reader running on a Sony PRS-505... and it is supposed to be eventually released. Some people are postulating that it will be released this summer and co-incide with the UK availability.

But, that is speculation, so there really has been no announced release date.

There is no eInk device which can read secure PDFs (with the exception of password-protected PDFs, which the iLiad can read).

Thanks guys, appreciate your comments. Do you think that if the demoed Adobe Digital Editions book reader is released on the Sony, it will be available in a firmware update or just available on the new UK released models?

They'll release new devices directly with DE support that's for sure. From a marketing point of view it makes a lot of sense to rebrand this as a new revision of the 505.

They'll probably switch their store to ePub too, and they'll need new device to support ePub without any upgrade.

They said at CES that it will be a firmware update for the 505. And it was demoed on a 505 at IPDF. There have been no indications that they are releasing a new version of the reader. Although it is of course possible.
