CBS Testing iPad-Friendly HTML5
Haven't seen this anyplace else here so forgive if a dupe but I think it is very exciting for us iPadders that CBS is now testing HTML5 to deliver video content and replace Flash. Now if only Hulu would make a smiliar announcement. There is a story about this on Endgadget.

CBS is testing H.264, which is NOT part of the HTML5 standard.
H.264 is a proprietary standard, from the MPEG-LA consortium, which as of 2014 will start imposing royalty and license requirements. Apple is a patent holder in the MPEG-LA consortium. For what it's worth, the new Flash Player also supports H.264. |
