Lightbulb Maximize the use of Sony PRS Reader screen

This should work on all Sony PRS Reader model with 6" screen, maybe it'll work on other sizes too, just change the resolution size to fit your screen.

It's really simple, I wonder why nobody ever posted it before.

By default, Sony Reader's effective display size is 584x754 in portrait mode.( 784x1012 in landscape mode.) That is because Sony Reader allocate 8px margin on each side, and the page bar is 30px in height (for T1).

For those who don't want this margin and want maximize use for the screen without third-party apps,

1. Resize your scanned book size to 600x770 (with pdflrf or other software you preffered)
2. Open it in your Reader, goto [Customize View] -> [Crop Page], current mode should be in [Uncrop] mode, if not, set it to [Uncrop] first!
3. Set to [Manual] crop
4. DO NOT resize or move! click on [Done] directly.

Now you got an "almost fullscreen" view mode without 8px margin.

If we really want to maximize view for scanned book (pdf) then the best way (when sony's autocrop + fit-to-landscape is not good enough) IMHO is to use Briss(or Pdfscissors) for cropping the white borders and then simply print-to-file this cropped pdf in Adobe Reader 11 (or Acrobat) using Posters mode (Tile mode in Acrobat) for Sony screen dimensions (about 120x90 mm).

It will take about five minutes for cropping and another five minutes for printing of an average book on average laptop.

Or just use k2pdfopt.

Or for those who don't mind rooting, use Orion app after rooting.

Of course this is not recommended for A4 sized pdf's (21 cm page width) but for pdf's with page width less than 16-17 cm (6 inch).

For A4 pdf scans we can use reflow in k2pdfopt beforehand or if it is 2-column (or 3-column) A4 pdf use Sony's 2-column mode.
