ePub Drop Shadow

Does the InDesign CS5 export to ePub support a drop shadow? If not, is it possible to add on a drop shadow to a graphic via css?

If you get creative in InDesign with effects like drop shadows you need to do it in a separate doc, export that page to eps, and place it back into the file you're making into the ePub. It will get rastorised into a jpeg when exported.

Would you please be more specific as to the steps.

The graphic with the drop shadow in question is in a doc containing seven pages in the frontmatter of my book.

Are you saying to export that doc to eps, and then copy and paste the graphic with the drop shadow back onto the page?

Sort of but not copy paste. Export the image with the drop shadow to EPS from a file the same size as the image and drop shadowed and then Place (control or apple "D") that EPS into the file you are making the epub in.

However your requirement is more simple than that. Just crop that jpeg you posted and place it into the text like the example I just posted.

If you want the text to float around the image you could try looking here.

Also What I would do, is make a screen shot of the element from InDesign. That way you will keep the images low res but display great on screen...
