B&N ebooks for the Sony?

I am a newbie and I have a Sony ebook and so far I have only bought books from Sony/Borders web site. Can I buy books from Barnes & Noble and read them on the my Sony? How do I download them onto the reader?

No. First off, B&N hasn't changed their library to EPUB yet. And even when they do, it'll be up to Sony to decide it they want to allow this to happen because of friggin' DRM issues. Call it EPUB, but B&N essentially found a way to make a new DRM format under the guise of EPUB.

Device manufactures that use ADE will have to decide if they want to update to Adobe's new firmware to allow B&N's EPUBs to work.

Aside from the Sony website, you can also buy books from BooksonBoard, get them from the library, or anyplace that has Adobe Epub or PDF books.
