Where did you get your Mobileread handle?
Mine is pretty boring. I used to participate on an Irish forum (I'm a potato famine Irish-American), and Dáithí is Irish for David. I used Daithi, on that board and I've just used it on everything else since then.

I hardly remember. I think it was a phrase that I heard on the television about the same time I was trying to come up with a handle that wasn't already in use.

A very brief but meaningful exchange with a Linux guru. There are other no.guru handles around, but this one is mine.

Shortened from an old TORG® RPG pulp reality hero (Doctor Phogg) who was in turn loosely related to one of Jules Verne's characters.
I have PTSD and it is a log in I can remember. |

My college nickname from the 70s. I was a tall, bearded, long-haired Geology student.

It's all Chris's fault. I was ShelsDreams (Shel's Dreams, not She Is Dreams) everywhere online until I moved here. After I moved, that username got hacked and I was locked out of it, so a new one was needed. Chris said I was his "phenomenal webmistress" (I designed websites at the time), so we shortened it to "phenomshel".

Mine is from an ancient episode of Late Night with Conan O'Brien, when Andy was on the show and they did the "In the Year 2000" routine.
One of the lines was "... in the year 2000, Alabama will change its name to Banjobama." I still almost always pick the username banjobama for things because it's never taken. |

Created a character for Genesis (the first LPMud) in 1995. Since then...
At the time of creating I knew it as a name of a flower or a nick pilots chatting on radio used when flying. Only fairly recently I learned its Latin meaning. |

My forum name here and other places is from the title of an Amos Garrett song, I Make My Home in My Shoes. The song is about homeless people and I feel for their struggles. I've also moved around a lot over the last decade or so, so the moniker has a second and more personal meaning, in that it is not so much where I am that makes home, but that it is me who makes a place home.

@ HomeInMyShoes - I love that sentiment. Thank you.
My forum name is based on the Greek Myth about the Phoenix. I'm a little ticked at myself for misspelling it. I added the red because phoenix is a popular choice. I've always been fascinated with the idea of the legendary Phoenix rising from the ashes. Every ending is the beginning of something new. |
