T1 Audio Feature - anything new?
I ask as in Lisa's 30 minute film there was a very brief coverage of that, and the cover display looked slightly different.

The biggest difference is that the volume buttons are gone and now there is a slider bar to control sound. There is also a mute button.
I like the old display better. The old display had a large picture of the artwork with the name of the song in big text and the artist and album name in small text underneath the art. The new display has small art with the song info to the right of it. It is poorly implemented because now the full name of the album and the songs don't display on the screen - ugh! Also the album title is now large text and the song name is small text. Another difference is that the new display has the shuffle and repeat options on the screen rather than in the menu. That is nice. On the other hand, they eliminated the status bar that tells you that you are listening to track number 1 of 10. That is not nice. |

I just discovered that a music note shows in the status bar when audio is on. If you press the status bar, then in the info screen it tells you the name of the song that is playing.

I truly appreciate your input, but am left a bit confused ... those sentences seem mutually exclusive? |

The key to my sentence is the "full name" is not displayed. The new display is like two columns across the width. One column on the left is the artwork of the album. The other column on the right is text displaying the album name, the artist and the song title. In the old view the text of the album name and the song title were lines beneath the artwork so it was like a single column view. Now because of the two-column view, the text can only go across half the screen instead of the full width. Therefore, unless you have a short title, it only shows you a portion of the text followed by "...". It's annoying that it only shows a handful of characters of your titles. I want to see the entire name like you could on the old models! There is lots of empty space on the screen so they could have made the new display similar to the old display.

Thanks for the followup! I now see what you mean, and it looks as though the mp3 feature is less attractive overall than the x50 models.

I do like the volume slider better and also that you don't have to press the option button for shuffle and repeat. Since I listen to music while I read, then I suppose it doesn't matter how ugly the info display is because I won't be looking at it. Just seems like an odd design layout when the last version was better.

Yes, the progress bar is still there and looks the same at the bottom.
