Firmware Update killed my PRS!
Well, kinda...
I'm a happy Mac-user, and until before the firmware update, I used the small and easy application called “Docudesk PRS Browser.” When the new firmware came out I read things like “better battery life” and so I looked for an old Windows-machine (my brother had an old laptop running XP) and did the update. Update worked without any problems. New firmware installed. I installed “Connect Reader” on the laptop and used it for the first time (it was OK, for a M$ app ). Uploaded some files to the reader. Now, back to the Mac where I downloaded the latest Docudesk update. Tried connecting the PRS to my Mac again, Docudesk tells me there's no Reader detected... Ok, fishy... Fired up Parallels and installed Connect Reader: PRS not found... Ok, this is the time where I start to panic... Does anyone had similar experiences? I'm leaving on holiday next week and would like to upload some books on my PRS, but don't have access to the old Windows-laptop no more... |

Downloaded the software, but it doesn't detect my PRS either...
Would a hard reset do the trick? |

Could not hurt to try a hard reset. Also, try a different USB cable and if that doesn't work, try a different computer.
When you installed libprs500, did you uninstall the USB driver from Docudesk's software? When you plug the Reader in, does the red light on the left side go on? |

Since it is working on a Windows machine, I suggest you might want to contact the Docudesk people as to what's going on.
Also, kovidgoyal should be able to help with libprs500 since he wrote it. The battery status won't change if you charge via the USB port. The battery bug fix needs the power adapter. After it's charged, you unplug the Reader, turn it on, and plug back in the power adapter for about 10 seconds and then unplug it and the battery meter will display the correct status. |

libprs500, docudesk AND biblioskop refuse to "see" the reader, so I think the problem lies with my reader, not the software...
gonna try a hard reset as soon as I find a small pointy thingy :-) |

Does the Reader actually work other then your MAC not seeing it?
try another USB cable or take it to another computer. If you take it to another computer, you might have to install Connect or libprs500 in order to test it out. One other option is to reflash your Reader. See https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...ght=PRSVersion for info. |

Reader works fine, but I'm running out of reading material on it
Ok I'll try the things you have summed up here tonight (I'm currently working) Thanks JSWolf! |

There are specialists here and I'm not but it sounds like that computer has not been authorized as the six devices that can use the DRMd files you could have on your reader. The books that came with the reader are protected.
