MAD Twists Rock 'n' Roll
I don't know how many of you remember how, in the bygone days of vinyl, magazines would from time to time place flexible vinyl records inside the pages of their magazines. In 1962, Mad magazine did it, which is where I was introduced to this classic tune. Of course, I saved my allowance and bought the entire album as soon as I could.

My closest childhood friend subscribed to 'Mad,' and saved every issue from its inception. All in pristine condition. When he moved out of the house at 20, of course his mother cleaned out all his 'toys' and threw away all the 'junk.' Can you imagine what that collection would be worth today?!?

I remember hearing this song while visiting friends in Vancouver, Canada during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

This one's a few years old, but I really like it. Good late night highway driving music.

That's right. You needed a record player with a very light needle arm or a few rocks or something to hold the record down. Yes, I remember records on the backs of cereal boxes!

I've just discovered the violinist Angèle Dubeau - WCPE (an all classical radio station) played a track from her album Blanc this morning - Unfolding Sky (Marjan Mozetich) .
Gorgeous! Lush! Couldn't find Unfolding Sky on YouTube, but here is another track from Blanc: She has recorded quite a bit of Philip Glass - I'll be exploring her discography. She performs with La Pieta - an all female ensemble. |

A new artist (to me). I guess this is "Dream Pop."
