Side loading for the Kindle app on an iPad

Is it possible to side-load a mobi document into the kindle for iPad app? or does one have to email the document to Amazon and download from there? and what if you don't have a kindle to have a kindle email address, but only use the Kindle reading app on the iPad?

this is for an 86-y-o second cousin. I don't have an iPad to experiment with, and have no idea what I'd be doing - I just promised her I'd do some research for her.

thanks!

The kindle iPad app has its own email address. You can email docs to it.

You could also email the ebook to the iPad owner, open the email on the iPad, and then download it from there.

Probably best to email it to the registered ipad address for that kindle app. That way the docs will always be stored in the amazon cloud.

Yes, you can sideload through iTunes. I tried using the iPad's email address once, and my book arrived minus its table of content. Now I use iBooks except for books I bought at Amazon...
