Do we need a new word for needing new words for everything? I nominate nuvoleximania.

There appears to be a word logolepsy, but I don't know if it has a "real" dictionary presence. Anyone have a copy of OED2 they can check?

http://www.kokogiak.com/logolepsy/

Anyway, that could be extended to neologolepsy-- an obsession with new words.

Snail reading sounds like tea leaf reading.

Could someone really interpret the future from the slime markings on the ground?

Yes. You can interpret "I may soon see a snail." Or slug. And if you are very lucky (okay, lucky might not be quite the right word) you might see them gettin' it on:

Reminds me of the scene in Microcosmos with the snails:

(Image swiped from the indybay.org site. And apparently if you're in the East Bay area you can go see the movie at the Albany library next weekend. Wholesome family entertainment -- no really, it is!)

do you like that term, Darren? Snailpaper...for print editions of newspapers, which likely will be dinosaurs in a few years anyways?
Given that the scenario you present has been true or worse ever since the invention of newspapers it seems more than a bit stupid to try and rename them now because of it, but it does seem inevitable these days for people try to invent pointless new words to needlessly differentiate something from an existing word.

I believe that every time someone manages to strangle to death a new buzzword in it's cradle, that person has done a service to humanity.

And just continue to call reading on ebooks and our ereaders as either "reading" (which it is!) or...e-reading, which it is!

Some research: Snail-reading is both a dysphemism and a retronym. It’s “dysphemistic”
because it’s a disparaging expression, sure, why not?, and its a retronym because the
advent of ebooks and e-readeres means we needed a term that emphasizes
the traditional, old-school kind of reading on paper, so maybe call it "snail reading"....? It still has its place, of course. Just as snail mail still has its place.

But the digital revolution has changed both personal mail and personal reading. What do other think of this term: snail-reading. A bit perjorative and disparaging yes, but descriptive, no?
The last time I looked, snails wreck and eat paper, not read it
