this one is called A_Nefel_Botan.

At this point it was working perfectly. After attempting to edit a few things in Sigil, now I am getting strange buggy things in this font also. Floating sukkoons that should be above characters on the next line down.

I need to work it through slowly to work out what particular thing is causing this, but this still seems to be the best font at the moment. Other ones have all the words overlapping over each other, or issues with the لا as i mentioned before, or just the words randomly thrown across the page.

Good to see that you're getting something that works okay for you. It's a bit disappointing how weak support for even basic features for many non Latin like scripts, like decent text rendering, is on many ereaders. And if Arabic is working somewhat okay, which I believe requires some degree or complex text rendering, may be there is hope for other languages like the various Indic ones.

Going by the Azardi/Inforgrid Pacific demo epub3 with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 28 languages, a Kobo can do a good job of displaying quite a few languages. Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Thai, Tamil, Nepali, Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi (though I'm not certain which script is being used -- I think it is Devanagari), Arabic, Hebrew (RTL languages), Russian and Vietnamese.

Amharic and Malayalam required that I play games with the installed fonts to get them viewable. The rest were viewed using MS Arial Unicode. I wanted to see what the pages would look like without using embedded fonts and while that font is not the prettiest and has some pretty ugly glitches, it does have the best unicode support I've seen to date.

Regards,
David

Thank you for pointing at Azardi/Inforgrid Pacific demo epub3. Just for information, the Punjabi sample uses Gurmukhi. Nepali, Hindi and Marathi use Devanagari.

Norton Site Safety gives a green rating to www.islamhouse.com, but McAfee SiteAdvisor site gives it a red rating. The SiteAdvisor report on www.islamhouse.com is here. Interestingly; while it says the site has security risks, it gives a 100% safe rating to all of the files that can be downloaded from that site. To be sure, SiteAdvisor has a reputation for giving false positives for problems.

Visit www.islamhouse.com at your own risk. It's my OPINION that the site is probably safe, but I wouldn't guarantee it.

Does anyone know where could I find a Ar-En dictionary for Kobo?

Not much has changed in the last several years...

I'm running the latest firmware on a Kobo Aura and I tried a handlful of Arabic fonts (Amri, Mirza, Noto Naskh, Scheherazade) and they range from partially to completely broken in terms of character placement.

Thankfully A_Nefel_Adeti still works pretty well. But I did find two others that work in case anyone's interested:
