Ebooks from Mirc

I was wondering if anyone has managed to get MIRC to work on Ubuntu? I want to try and get some ebooks off MIRC but I can't get it to open even though I have WINE.

I have gotten books off there in the past but that was on my laptop which had Windows 7 on it and the laptop is now dead.

First, books you'd be getting off of IRC (of which MIRC is just a client) are likely pirated, so you probably don't want to be asking about that here.

Second, have you tried a linux IRC client? I've not been on IRC for going on 8 years, but back then the top GUI client was XChat. That appears to still be around, along with the other clients (b****x, irssi, chatzilla, etc). Consider running one of those rather than trying to shoehorn a Windows app into Linux.

No need to jump to conclusions, there is a lot of public domain stuff on IRC too. XChat works just fine - see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/XChatHowto

mIRC is Windows only, so you will have to use Wine in order to run it under Linux. Even still, it is buggy under Wine, and is known to have issues. There are other IRC clients that will work on Linux, such as the aforementioned XChat.

Unfortunately, that is about the most help you'll get around here, since as others have said, most ebooks available through Fserves on IRC are pirated, and talking about that is a corky nono in these parts, and the only other info we could give you is telling you how to use an Fserve, which you've said you've done before.
