Walt Mossberg: Nook is not fully baked yet

Not too positive, but more balanced than Pogue's:

Quote:
My recommendation on the Nook is to wait, even if you prefer its features to the Kindle's. It's not fully baked yet.

Seems to me that he says almost the exact same thing as Pogue, just a little less emphasis on the screen issues; they both hammer home their belief that the nook release was rushed.

The difference between the articles is one of tone, not content.

I agree-the Pogue review was written in typical David Pogue fashion-sarcastic, biting, and personal, and Mossberg's in typical Walt Mossberg understated style...but the content seemed pretty consistent, and also with what I've been reading around the web as well.

Cause they are not the messengers. That's their opinion they offer and it is more then our right to disagree with them if we find some flaw. That's called critical thinking.

calling someone biased is not critical thinking.

How about attacking, ya know, the argument?

As others have said above, my comment was related to the tone of the article. I don't really care if they attack the Nook, I don't own one & probably never will

Thats his way. You know how everyone (falsely) calls him a Apple fanboy?

Quote:
It's amazing that Apple doesn't recognize this situation. This is an airplane that's stuck on the runway for hours with no food or working bathroom. And the pilot doesn't come on the P.A. system to tell the customers what the problem is, what's being done to fix it, how much longer they might be stuck, and how he empathizes with their plight. Instead, he comes on once every three hours to repeat the same thing: "We apologize for the inconvenience."

MobileMess, indeed.

Using a cliché out of context does not make for a good argument. Or a good troll.

See if it's even valid Ocean... Now learn what a rule is.

EDIT: Also, are you an ex-B&N employee by any chance?

Second question: No.

You broke this:

Quote:
When things get controversial please disagree with the opinion, not the person.

Don’t say, “You’re an idiot,”
...or a troll.

As for trolling:
Quote:
Deliberately provoking other members (also known as “trolling”) is prohibited. Members who post provocative or inflammatory posts will be warned.
I have not been warned -- and I have take preemptive steps in the face of criticism from others.

So please -- drop it.

Exclamation

All right, folks, this is an Official Moderator-type "play nice" warning for all participants.

@Ocean -- more or less asking for a warning about trolling ... well that tends to make you look a bit more like a troll to a Moderator. Just sayin'.

No one expects anyone to agree with anyone else on any particular thing, but when someone seems to be doing nothing but disagreeing, without much in the way of explaining why, it rather starts to seem like that person's intent is to be disagreable.

Giving that impression to Moderators is not a healthy forum lifestyle-choice.

Remember, everyone: moving closer and closer to a line without ever crossing it is the definition of an asymptote -- please don't be an asymptote.

Okay, let me be plainer: You're at hazard of being banned for trolling.

Is that clearer?
