Is Amazon under DDOS attack because of the Wikileaks Uproar?
---------------
edit - this may be related to my own system - seems like Chrome suddenly decided to stop liking Amazon's servers. Not sure if this was related to some temporary DDOS problem, but I've got it working now. --------------- Haven't been able to access Amazon.com the last day or so from several different countries (Malaysia, Japan, Full VPN tunnel to U.S.). Amazon.co.uk was fine, and amazon.ca was only partially working. The only reason I could think of is a DDOS attack, a few news articles indicate that they may be under attack due to dropping Wikileaks from the EC2. The other thought I had is they'r blocking large chunks of Internet sources as a way to work around the attack... Anyone else having problems accessing them? I'd advise to use http://www.just-ping.com , but Amazon servers don't respond to pings.
So I advise to test with http://www.watchmouse.com/ instead - that downloads a html page to test the connection, from various places around the world. |

The hacktivist group Anonymous announced that they've been targetting groups that cancelled Wikileaks services with DDoS attacks. That may have been the issue.

Amaxon is growing their market base faster than their server farm.

Two days ago I had problems Checking Out (i.e. making my purchase), but all of the rest of Amazon's pages were loading fine. I thought it was just a lot of people trying to purchase items at the same time, but now I'm wondering if it may have been to the Wikileaks thing.

The simple answer is. Stop using Chrome and start using Firefox. :P
