Hi,

Myreadings seems to achieve some stability right now.

Maybe it's time to think to build a package for people who would like to install it easily on their synology and maybe a howto guide.

I am ready to contribute.

It is a great achievement for book lovers !

thanks
Hugo

Package MyReadings for Synology

Hi,
A friend helped me to build a package. You can download it here.

http://www.nas-forum.com/forum/files...ge-myreadings/

I am trying now to pull request to SynoCommunity to make it an available package directly from the Package center.

I hope it will help new users to adopt it !

Thanks for your feedback

First feedback from Acris :
package installation OK.

about MyReadings :
in French
"Premiere impression pour myreadings :

ce qui est dommage pour myreadings c est qu il n est pas une redirection sur admin.php pour la 1ere configuration du lecteur.

il faudrait peut etre que le script vérifie la présence d un fichier de configuration.
Dommage l interface est en anglais aussi pour la configuration"

in English :
"First impression about MyReadings :

That s a pity that at first access on MyReadings, there is no redirection on admin interface to configure it.

Maybe the script should test a config file presence.
Too bad, the interface for configuration is also in english."

Is there a way to fix it ?

First, test if the config is done ? If not redirect to admin.

On admin, first question : what language ? Then access to the complete interface ?

Thanks for feedback,

Is there anywhere I can download it without signing up for an account on that hosting site? I'd be happy to host the package in my dropbox if that'd help.

Hi,

The package should be ready soon. Once the pull request done, it will become available directly from synocommunity through the package center in your nas.

In the meantime, you can contact me to get the package as spk and you could host it if you want.
My goal was to make it available easily for new users.

sbdomo, I can keep doing right scrolling even though there are no more comics or books, then I have to get back the same number of scrolling touches to the left, don´t know if I´m explaining this cleary.

Any possibilities to order by custom columns? or simply list them like tags inside search section?

Thank you for your work.

Hugoheitz, you too, great iniciative for new adopters. All Calibre users should know this software.

Imagining the bookshelf of the future

Right now I am working at home to create a playroom for my kids.
I needed to remove my books to be able to move the bookshelf out of the room to change the floor.
So I have moved all my physical library in boxes and after that, my wife and I began to ask ourselves :
can we get rid of the bookshelf ? (it is pretty massive : 2,2 meters large by 2,2 meters height by 0,6 meters deep)...
Big challenge !
So we tried to sort our books, etc... We put shelves in a closet we had not yet fully used...
In the end we get rid of the bookshelf ! It frees up a lot of space in the room...

At this point : I was asking myself :
OK, we get rid of our music (no more CDs) , our videos (no more tapes or DVDs) and now is the turn of our books...

But at the same time, I was kind of sad because I thought :
"how to be able to share the books I like and to see the books on the shelves the way I saw them before ?"

I search about digital shelves and found this interesting article :
http://proto-knowledge.blogspot.fr/2...of-future.html

So I am asking, is it just me or is there anyone else who want to be able to see not the cover but the side of it ? And maybe walk in the bookshelves ?
(the best image I could think was this scene in Matrix where they get in the weaponry and all sort of shelves loaded with guns come from the ground to be all around them...)

For the first part : is it doable within MyReadings to present not covers but sides of books (based on the lenght of the book) ?...

Thanks for your thoughts !

Hi everyone,

The package has been created by a friend and pushed to the github repository of synocommunity/spksrc.
A pull request has been made to integrate it in the synocommunity.com website packages directly available to end users.
I think it can greatly help new users to adopt MyReadings.

In order to help the pull request to move forward, we need to get people to support it.
If you are a user and want to get the package more easily :
Can you connect to GitHub and support it (+1 ), it would be great if you can relate your personal experience with MyReadings. Many people don't understand how it can help in a family life for example (direct streaming from the NAS, etc...)
The direct URL for the pull request :
https://github.com/SynoCommunity/spksrc/pull/1362

Thanks for your help,
