Problem with new download
I just bought a new book via 3G. it is downloaded to my PC and accessible there, but on the Kindle under archived items, it appears but is greyed out and can't be selected. I have done this same thing before but never seen this result. How do I access the book on the Kindle? Thanks in advance!

Try the re-sync option, from your Kindle.

If you bought it via 3G (from the Kindle, while connected via 3G), it should not be downloaded to your PC. It might be in the PC app's archives, though.
Not sure how Archives work on the newer Kindles, but if it is on your Kindle, it very well might be greyed out in Archives, because it is already downloaded. I think jocampo means the 'Sync and Check for New Items' option on the Kindle. |

If you can't get it to work at all then give Kindle CS a message. They're usually quick on fixing any issues you may have.

I found that when I had downloaded a few items, their names were grayed out - it appears that they were in the process of downloading. So gray may mean it is happening in the background. Otherwise, as suggested call CS.

Yes, a greyed-out name indicates that the item is in the process of being downloaded. Once the book's finished downloading it'll disappear entirely from the archive and appear in the main book list.

Can you see it in Manage My Kindle? Try to send it again from there. i once had the same problem with a free book from Amazon.
