Suggestion for auto-complete

In Calibre, I've noticed that if you're typing in a field (say Author), a list of previous typed names drops down. This is great, and expected. However if I use the arrow keys to move down to the name I want and press Tab, the focus simply moves to the next field and leaves what I typed in the Author field, without actually filling in the entry I keyed down to.

It would be nice if Calibre did this. It's the default behaviour all throughout OS X (and I think Windows and Linux too).

Thanks.

Press enter instead of tab, there is no convention that Tab must select from a completion list on OS X let alone linux and windows. For example try pressing tab on the spotlight completion list it will switch focus from the list to the text field.
