What resolution will it have? Can you read DIN A4 documents comfortably with that screen size?

Ideally, it would work like this: Read a journal article, and as you read, mark sections for excerpts (text or selection of a scanned image), or insert notes (scribbles would be fine). Then, when you connect to your main computer (PC, Mac, Linux...) give the option to extract new annotations. Pull those out to a simple database. Each entry would be tagged with the document it came from, with an interface to convert document identities to bibliography/reference entries in the standard formats, e.g. APA, using metadata extracted from the document or provided by the user. Allow the user to tag entries while reading or afterward. Convert scribbled notes to text, if possible, otherwise include them as an image. One could then generate annotated bibliographies based on selected tags at will. Doctoral students and researchers would line up in droves for such a system. (I'd be near the front of the line myself.) |

well, yeah.. but switching between PDFs (looking something up in a reference book) still takes 45s or more here (and that's without counting the time i need to find the actual page/chapter)

That's because it's not multi-tasking, you're having to re-load the document each time. That's something else that could easily be implemented if a window manager was part of the software, then you could flip between documents quite quickly. We can only hope. Well, possibly we can nag the developers too...

Will see on battery life
I'm buying the first touchscreen ebook of the 3 coming in the next 6-9 months with reasonable battery life. The 60-70 hour figure is hopeful, but they've lied about their battery life before.

I'm curious as to why you want a device with a touch screen; the very last thing I want to do is to read from a screen with fingerprints all over it. I far prefer hardware buttons to a touch screen for reading.
