Thanks a million for the recipes. All work fine when I transfer the results to my PRS-500.

I changed the RSS feed for The Nation's recipe to:

http://feedproxy.google.com/ArticlesFromTheNation

in order to have more of the magazine's content downloaded. I don't mind that some of the articles will be copied again the next time I do a download.

Again, thanks very much for what you've supplied and a big thank you to kovidgoyal (and others?) for creating and maintaining the calibre program. It's super.

Bye...

It is a known problem of sony readers. Checkout FAQ

My downloaded news content causes the reader to reset.

I edited my last post to take out the statement that my PRS-500 crashes with Spiegel Online International, because on a second attempt, it did not crash.

Thanks for the info on crashing.

Updated Harper's Magazine recipe. Now we have two Harper's recipes

1. harpers.py which gets the content only available on the web using rss feed from the site
2. harpers_full.py which gets articles from printed edition published on the web. For this one you must be subscribed to the magazine.

Enjoy

Custom Recipe Request

Anyone out there able to create a recipe for the Daily Telegraph (UK)? I've had a go, but I'm still getting loads of extraneous bits from the webpages making their way into the end book.

Here are the main feeds I'm interested in:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/rss
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/rss
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/rss
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sciencean...nologynews/rss
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sciencean...ogyreviews/rss
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sciencean...ciencenews/rss
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rss
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthnews/rss
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/rss
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/news...waboutthat/rss

Thanks in advance.

Here is my quick fix. You will have to adapt the feeds to the ones you want to include.

request for recipe - thanks

Thank you both for your replies. A much improved reading experience now!

I can cope with a smaller font size for news reading when compared to book reading. Is it possible to add some lines in the coding to make the output smaller, or should I just alter the default conversion settings?

I think that by adding this to the recipe you will be fine (untested)

Code:
html2lrf_options = ['--base-font-size', '10']

You could try adding extra_css to your recipe, e.g.:
Quote:
extra_css = 'p {font-size : x-small}'
If you need an even smaller font, use xx-small. For additional information, see http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Cascadi...Fonts_and_Text

Kiklop74 and jowen1. Thank you both for your quick replies. The html2lrf option seems to work best (although it may mean I'm not putting the extra_css line correctly!).

Would that option also work for epub output?

For epub use

html2epub_options = 'base_font_size = "10pt"'
