Port Search Function from PRS 700 to PRS 505 500

Of the limited set of new functions available in the PRS700, I find the Text Search Function the most useful. I imagine it to be vital for many research purposes.

Would it be possible to port this search function from the PRS 700 firmware onto the PRS 505?

On a side note, the annotation tool holds promise for note making, but I'm sure anyone with experience on a touch screen device, knows how slow search and peck typing can be.

I'm suspicious the answer to that is going to be "no" -- the 700's search and annotation functions seem to rely on a virtual keyboard with touch-screen input. That's not possible on the 505, of course.

In order to implement some proxy using the existing hardware buttons on the 505, it would be necessary to re-write the interface.

I think Sony could probably pull that off (assuming there aren't any other, less visible hardware limitations in the way ), but it seems to me that anybody else would have a rather tough go of it.

It is already possible to type on 505, in the dictionary: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22320

I know it is something different, but the point is, that you can input short words.

Hi, sorry for waking up the dead threads, but this one is really interesting. Has anyone tried to port the prs-700 search function to prs-500/505 (or write a different one), using any of the input methods available for dictionaries?

Regards

I've added it to PRS+ feature requests list. Whether an effective implementation is possible in PRS 505, is an open question, but I'll give it a try in the future. But don't expect it soon.

Thank you kartu. If this add-on is possible, it would be really helpful and would add lots of value to the reader. Thanks for your great work on PRS+ as well.
